I am Your Parent, The Psycho
This meme has been popular around Facebook lately. I'm sure you've all seen it:
It disgusted me, so I wrote my own version that displayed the kind of healthy relationship I want to have with my children, and my friend Joanna made this with it:
I like your version better, too. Psycho is a good word for the other one. Seriously...making stalking and flipping out something to be proud of? Sounds like someone is trying to justify their problems and get out of having to apologize. :-/ Oh, and just for fun, I made yours into a simple graphic. http://oi58.tinypic.com/156ve2t.jpg
Oh nice! A couple friends have done that this morning to pass around Facebook. :) And, yeah, stalking is not healthy. I also don't like the line about "no one else will ever love you as much as I do". Which, as a mother, I get the sentiment behind that. But it's just not universally true. Who is to say that my love for my child is greater than their father's or their spouses' love? Or their child's love?
I wonder if whoever wrote that is serious? surely not. That's crazy.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, Lana, I actually know several people who reposted that in complete sincerity. :/

DeleteAmen! I've also seen that going around FB and it irritated me too!
ReplyDeleteLove it! What gracefilled words to give your kids.
